RiverCenter Announces 2023-24 Season

Aug 10, 2023 ● By Staff Writer
Major concert artists, a world-renowned opera star who was just
announced as a Kennedy Center honoree, a collection of national
touring Broadway shows that have not been seen before on the
RiverCenter stage, and multiple tour start-ups lead RiverCenter’s
2023-24 Season. “The upcoming season is one great show after
another and we’re thrilled to announce it,” said RiverCenter Executive Director Norman Easterbrook.
The season opens on August 26 with a tour advance of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, a film screening with live orchestra and lighting effects. “This production is a first for RiverCenter
and the Columbus region, appealing to both continuing and new
audiences,” said Easterbrook. “Combining the craft of the graphic
novel on film with live music on stage is a concept that is terrifically popular in regions around the country. Columbus area audiences will be able to experience this program for the first time ever as
they launch their national tour from Columbus. The Spider-Man
stories have just been fun for entire generations in print and on
film. Adding the live musicians is a human element that will more
closely connect the audience to the work of the graphic and film
artists and creators.”
The TSYS Broadway on Broadway series includes shows new
to the RiverCenter stage: The Four Phantoms in Concert, Come
From Away, On Your Feet, and Pretty Woman. There are also four
Broadway-related shows that can be added to a Broadway Series
subscription package at savings of up to 30%: Forbidden Broadway,
STOMP, Disney Princess: The Concert and Voctave: The Corner
of Broadway and Main Street.
The Center Stage Series is awash in incredible artists, including
Foreigner: The Historic Farewell Tour on November 8, Mannheim
Steamroller Christmas on November 25, Johnny Cash: The Official Concert Experience March 2, and Amy Grant in concert on
April 16. Additionally, Celtic Thunder tenor vocalist Emmet Cahill
will present Songs of Ireland, a concert of traditional and popular
songs on March 1 in Legacy Hall in conjunction with the Georgia
Presenters.
The Family Series returns with Lightwire Theatre’s innovative
production of The Adventures of Tortoise and Hare-The Next
Generation on October 1 and 2, and the incredible basketball,
skateboard, and bicycle skills of 360 Allstars in their Urban Circus
tour that includes lighting effects, DJs and turntables, drums, and
a dazzling array of gravity-defying tricks
