The Beginning of a New Era at Jordan Vocational CCA

Sep 17, 2024 ● By Jordan High Journalism Class

In the heart of Midtown Columbus, Jordan Vocational College and Career Academy has welcomed students back with many opportunities to learn and achieve success. During the first fourteen days of the new school year, students have been getting accustomed to the new policies and initiatives designed to foster an environment conducive to learning—an environment where students are excited to come, take their core classes, learn a skill, or join a new club.

This year, Jordan is launching an innovative program called RISE with Terry Morgan, focused on experiential learning and real-world applications. Additionally, Jordan has introduced new and returning clubs like The Robotics Club, which gives students the chance to build teamwork, problem-solving, and engineering skills. These clubs, along with their core classes, will have students at Jordan ready for the next stage in life.

“We want our students to be prepared for the challenges of tomorrow, not just in terms of knowledge, but in their ability to think creatively and work collaboratively,” Principal Hutson said. “Our goal is to inspire them to be lifelong learners.”

JVCCA is also deeply committed to strengthening its ties with the local community. The school recently hosted its Open House, an event common in local schools at every level, bringing students, parents, and teachers together to form a collaborative relationship. Activities included parents receiving Title I information and visiting their child’s classrooms.

Every day, our students help write our history as we help shape their futures. As the new school year progresses, Jordan remains focused on the future by encouraging students to be Present, Prepared, and Professional. For parents, students, and the community, our faculty and staff are helping raise the bar here at Jordan!
