Keni Thomas to Headline the All-American Spooky Southern Hoedown: A Military Appreciation Fall Festival at the Columbus Civic Center

Columbus, GA – The All-American Spooky Southern Hoedown is set to take the Columbus Civic Center by storm on Saturday, October 26th, 2024, with a lineup that promises to entertain and honor our military and their families. Headlining the event is Keni Thomas, former member of the 75th Ranger Regiment and decorated combat veteran of Operation Gothic Serpent, whose experience in the Battle of Mogadishu inspired the book and movie Black Hawk Down. Keni will be sharing his powerful story in an intimate keynote speech and then rocking the stage with his band for a full-on country music concert.

The All-American Spooky Southern Hoedown isn’t just a concert—it’s a full-day family-friendly fall festival with a Halloween twist. It’s designed to celebrate the men and women of Ft. Moore and all the surrounding military communities, as well as families across the Chattahoochee Valley. With activities for kids and adults alike, this festival will blend the joy of Halloween with the pride of military appreciation. From haunted hayrides, a magician, face painting, and trick-or-treating to live performances, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Opening the festivities will be Taylor Jenkins, a rising country music star from Beauregard, Alabama, known for his soulful voice and acoustic performances. He’ll kick off the day with an intimate acoustic set that will get the crowd warmed up for what’s to come. Following Taylor, Kit + Char, an American Idol top 25 duo hailing from Columbus, Georgia, will take the stage with their unique blend of harmonies and upbeat country-pop sounds. Both acts are sure to bring incredible energy to this hometown event.

Keni Thomas is more than just a talented musician; he’s a nationally recognized speaker, author, and war hero who uses his story to inspire audiences around the world. His involvement in the Battle of Mogadishu—a pivotal moment in U.S. military history—earned him the Bronze Star for Valor, but it’s his commitment to sharing that experience, coupled with his country music career, that sets him apart.

After his military service, Keni pursued his passion for music in Nashville, Tennessee, and quickly made a name for himself in the country music scene. He founded his band, Cornbread, and has since shared stages with stars like Dierks Bentley, Trace Adkins, and Tim McGraw. As a veteran, Keni’s music resonates deeply with both military audiences and civilians alike, offering a powerful message of hope, resilience, and patriotism.

Keni will take the stage for his keynote speech at 3:30 p.m., where he’ll share his firsthand experience of leading soldiers through one of the toughest battles of modern warfare. After his speech, he’ll treat the audience to a live performance with his band, bringing the night to an electrifying close.

The All-American Spooky Southern Hoedown will offer more than just great music. Families can enjoy a variety of activities, including haunted hayrides, a magician with a stage show, bouncy houses, arts & crafts for the kids, face painting, food trucks, beer, and a variety of snacks for kids and adults, along with trick-or-treating stations throughout the day.

With live music, military tributes including a performance of The National Anthem, and endless entertainment, the event offers a perfect way for the entire community to come together and celebrate our heroes.
