11th & Bay: Pull Up a Chair and Stay A While!
Nov 14, 2024 02:55PM ● By Bill EvansI’ll admit right up front that I have a soft spot for everything about 11th and Bay. On October 8, this beloved Columbus restaurant celebrated ten years of delighting guests with its culinary expertise, inspired by the warmth of southern hospitality and creative southern cuisine.
Located in an old cotton warehouse, 11th and Bay has an atmosphere that’s unpretentious, warm, and inviting. The open dining room features heart pine floors, exposed beams, warm brick walls, and vintage Edison lighting. Outside, the patio offers a perfect spot to enjoy sunsets over the Chattahoochee River, complete with cozy fire pits.
Owners Heather and Mike Harrell have crafted something truly special, creating an experience that enchants customers night after night. Their slogan, "PULL UP A CHAIR AND STAY A WHILE," is more than words; it embodies the culture embraced by everyone who works there.
Mike proudly showcases Heather’s menu creations, and after dining, you’ll understand why. Heather’s seasonally focused menu highlights quality ingredients from local farmers and purveyors, bringing fresh flavors to every dish.
Signature dishes abound at 11th and Bay. Their year-round oysters are a constant hit, while the Southern Caprese Salad—with fried pimento cheese and expertly prepared tomatoes—is a must-try. The "screaming mussels," served in a sauce so delicious you’ll wish it was soup, are another favorite.
When it comes to entrées, you can’t go wrong. Mike, a master at aging steaks, handles each cut in-house, while Heather infuses every dish with flavors that make dining here a true culinary experience.
Their wine list is solid and complemented by seasonal cocktails, including a bruised peach sanguine. Old Fashioned lovers are in for a treat, with Pappy Van Winkle available at the bar.
The key to every restaurant’s success is hard work, dedication, and consistency. The team at 11th and Bay pours their hearts into every plate, serving each guest with care. Congratulations to Mike and Heather on a remarkable first decade!
