1.6 Million Miles of Ministry—and Counting

Jul 01, 2025 ● By Desi Phillips

One of the greatest needs at The Valley Rescue Mission is transportation. Each day, we transport over 80 men and women to work, church, Columbus Technical College, medical appointments, and other essential destinations.

Our ministry vehicles have collectively logged over 1.6 million miles. Until our recent vehicle purchases, most of them were nearly worn out.

The two photos included in this mailing show our previous van—a Dodge that the ladies affectionately named Ms. Betty, which had over 234,122 miles—and one of the new vans purchased thanks to the generosity of two foundations.

When one of our ladies saw the old and new vans side by side, she said:

“Ms. Betty reminds me of myself when I first came to The Mission. I was broken. I was worn out from trying to do things my way. I was tired of being in and out of jail. But the new van reminds me of where I am now. I’m a new person. I have a bright future. I have so much to give back in serving the Lord.”

We hope these photos encourage you to continue praying for The Mission. Please also continue your financial support. What we do for our clients—and others in need—does come at a cost. Your support is a vital part of their transformation.

With your help, we’re guiding broken and weary people into new life through Christ, made possible by their commitment to becoming a client of The Valley Rescue Mission.

When you give to Valley Rescue Mission, you’re not just donating—you’re helping drive real, lasting change in the lives of men and women right here in our community. From transportation to meals, job training, housing, and spiritual restoration, your support fuels every mile of this ministry.

Whether it’s a one-time gift, a recurring donation, or simply sharing our mission with a friend, you are part of the transformation. Thank you for standing with us.
